The Historical Society of Boonton Township hosts their annual Art-In on the grounds of the historic Kincaid Farm. Area artists are welcome to come and join the group for a day of painting “en plein air.” A French expression, “en plein air,” simply describes the art of painting outdoors which became a popular practice with 19thc. Barbizon and impressionist painters seeking to work away from the studio in more natural light
Painting in the field begins at 10am and should be finished by 4pm. Participating artists are free to work in any media they like, and in the long tradition of plein air, feel free to sell “wet” paintings to visitors. Any number of interesting subjects , from the old house, crumbling outbuildings, open fields and dense woods, can be found at The Kincaid Farm which is located at 591 Powerville Rd., Boonton Township 07005. The house will be open to visitors and participants alike and there will be a limited bakesale. There will also be artwork on exhibit and for sale to the public.
