Morris Arts is thrilled to count the Hon.Tim Smith among this year’s host conversationalists at the May 2nd benefit, Great Conversations. A veritable Renaissance man, Tim straddles the worlds of the performing arts, financial planning and public service. The Founder/CEO of The Comprehensive Group (Parsippany NJ), one of America’s largest specialty independent broker-dealer/investment advisor platforms, Tim is a trained financial planner/investment advisor for individuals and served as National Chairman of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority’s Advisory Council, frequently consulted on trends in this marketplace. His public service included stints on the Rockaway Township Planning Board, the Environmental Commission, as a Councilman, ultimately, as Mayor of Roxbury. Recognizing the need for greater communication and cooperation among governments, Tim founded the Government Efficiency Movement, or “GEM”, to organize/educate elected officials about the advantages of regional planning and consolidation. And, as an actor/singer who performed in regional theatre, opera, night clubs, TV commercials and pilots, Tim continues performing Irish Tenor programs, including releasing his CD, “Heritage.” A classically trained singer, he performed patriotic songs before Presidents Reagan, Clinton and George W. Bush and his passion for the performing arts led him to establish the Roxbury Performing Arts Center and its signature facility, the Investors Bank Theatre which houses several theatre groups, an Irish dance school and regular professional performances.
On March 15 and 16, 2013, at 7:30pm both nights, Tim dons his “Irish Tenor hat” to perform a program entitled “Love and Longing” as a fundraiser for the Roxbury Arts Alliance at the Roxbury Performing Arts Center, 72 Eyland Ave., Succasunna, NJ. Pianist and conductor David P. Maiullo along with Roxbury resident and guitarist Phil Lamoureux will accompany him. Tickets are $20.00 and $15.00 for seniors and kids under 12 years old.
