Free Introductory Workshop

Connect and change lives. Teach teen girls to speak out. Inspire Enthusiasm for learning. Teachers, Teaching Artists, Guidance Counselors, Psychologists, Community Program Leaders – Join us May 17th for a free introductory workshop to learn about GIRL’S SURVIVING, a student-centered program in writing and performance for adolescent girls with a proven history of changing teen girls’ lives.

Participate in:

  • activities that motivate girls to take the lead in conversations between teens and between teens and adults
  • writing exercises that encourage collaboration and allow teens the freedom to express themselves without feeling judged
  • acting games that give teens the perspective to transform their life experiences into theatre

Presenters:

Paula Davidoff a storyteller and Carolyn Hunt, a playwright and director who are experienced teaching artists.In 2005 they combined their talents to create Girl’s Surviving, a troupe of teen actresses from the Morris School District who tell their stories through writing and performance. Over the years they have developed unique strategies that encourage teens to talk through their concerns, raise their voices about the important issues in their lives and take the lead in developing performances that reflect their insights about teen life. Paula and Carolyn have written a book about their work called: Girl’s Surviving: Teaching Teen Girls to Speak Out.
