MUSIC BEYOND BORDERS: For the 4th consecutive year, Morris Arts continues its collaboration with the Mayo Performing Arts Center, programming four free, outdoor, world-music concerts during June, July and August 2013. Lend Us Your Ears provides patrons the opportunity to join the Shakespeare Theatre’s directors, actors and artistic staff to explore three diverse and exciting plays. These scripts-in-hand readings will feature members of The Shakespeare Theatre’s esteemed company of actors as well as prestigious guest artists. Following the reading will be a talk-back session with the director, cast and audience which provides valuable feedback on the play and its potential for future production.

July 9: Argentine Tango - A seasoned troupe of professional Latin dancers led by Daniel Herrera, will bring their high speed, rapid footwork and intricately skilled dancing to the Green. The Argentine tango, developed in the late 19thc. working class neighborhoods of Argentina’s Buenos Aires and continuously evolving today, is a dance of passion and intensity which has inspired works by composers such as Astor Piazzolla and been featured prominently in films such as Scent of a Woman and True Lies.
Help us celebrate the anniversary of the Minstrel’s first show and the members of the Folk Project. Randomly chosen duos and trios will each perform one song. Always a fun evening! Special admission price tonight includes dessert.
