Individual Artist Fellowships
Application Deadline: July 15, 2011
Individual Artist Fellowships are highly competitive grants to New Jersey artists in different disciplines awarded solely on independent peer panel assessment of artistic quality. The awards may be used to support the professional development of the artist and are offered this year in the following categories: crafts, photography, playwriting, poetry, and sculpture. The Council will offer technical assistance workshops for those interested in applying, which will explain the application process and review important information that will help applicants complete the on-line submission.

U.S.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has announced the availability of more than $100 million in funding for up to 75 Community Transformation Grants. Created by the Affordable Care Act, these grants are aimed at helping communities implement projects proven to reduce chronic disease, violence and injury, and improve mental health and equity. Funding is available to support evidence and practice-based community and clinical prevention and wellness strategies that will lead to specific, measurable health outcomes to reduce chronic disease rates.

Call for Entries/Nexus NJ Art Show

Arts Guild New Jersey is now accepting entries for NEXUS NJ, an art show open to artists living and/or working in New Jersey juried by Rocio Aranda-Alvarado, Associate Curator of Special Projects at El Museo Del Barrio. Artists must be 18 to enter. Entry is open to artists working in any medium or style, in two or three dimensions. Entry fee is $25/3 entries for current members of Arts Guild New Jersey or $20/3 entries for non-members. The exhibit will open October 23, 2011 and run through November 17, 2011.

Mountain Lakes Centennial Art Installation

Outdoor Public Art Installation, October-December 2011
Deadline for submission: September 6, 2011
Artists are invited to submit a proposal for an outdoor public art installation celebrating Mountain Lakes’ Centennial to be displayed during Fall, 2011. Local artists, amateur and professional, are encouraged to apply. Works must be durable and safe specific or complementary to the outdoors. The winning artist will retain rights of ownership of the artwork and will receive a stipend of $500. Call for Artists with disabilities
Deadline for submission: September 19, 2011
Exhibit would run from October 28-November 28, 2011 at Arts Unbound Gallery.
Arts Unbound is seeking submissions of original artwork from individual artists with disabilities, or from the organizations that represent them.
Artwork in all media will be considered. Artist may submit up to three images for consideration. There is very limited space for 3D/ sculptural work.Last year 20 works were selected form 80 submissions. Submissions are by email or can be by regular mail (images on a disc). AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR ARTISTS
The Actors Fund, a nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment, together with its Housing Development Corporation, is conducting a survey of the space needs of artists and all others involved in the performing arts and entertainment industry in the Central New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania areas.

The Actors Fund is evaluating the potential of developing affordable housing for performing artists and others in the entertainment industry. The affordable housing facility would include shared spaces, special design features and amenities suited to the needs of those in the performing arts and entertainment industry and their families. The survey has been developed and is being administered by Artspace Projects, a national nonprofit organization. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and can be accessed at ActorsFundHousingSurvey.org.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS-In collaboration with the Institute for Entrepreneurial Leaders and the Lincoln Center Institute, The Newark Arts Council is presenting a series of Professional Development workshops designed to explore the artist’s contributions to the economy of the region. Open to artists (performing and visual), arts and business leaders, industries seeking a creative worksforce, educational institutions/teaching artists and entrepreneurial artists. ARTISTS WANTED
The Hudson County Public Art Commission (HCPAC) is seeking RFQs from artists with diverse points of view for its inaugural public art project at Washington Park, a county park serving communities of northern Jersey City and southern Union City.
HCPAC welcomes RFQ applications/inquiries (no design proposals) from established and emerging artists, as well as artist teams. While HCPAC endeavors to include Hudson County artists whenever possible in its projects, it is not limiting the search solely to Hudson County artists. HCPAC has been appointed from the public by Hudson County Executive Thomas A DeGise to organize, oversee and implement the county’s 1% for Public Art Executive Order, an initiative unique among New Jersey’s 21 counties.
