Professional Development

Our Professional Development Workshops are designed to assist individual artists acquire new skills and learn about opportunities at the local and state level. Past workshops have been presented in grantwriting, applying for  fellowship awards and  financial planning for artists.

On May 18, from 5:30-7:30pm, at 14 Maple Ave. in the 3rd floor board room, the Arts Council of the Morris Area will be presenting a “must attend” nonprofit survival seminar entitled Understanding Nonprofit Cash Flow, featuring David Gray, author of the Finance Arts Guide to Nonprofit Cash Flow, Certified Financial Planner and former nonprofit Executive Director.  A talented and lively speaker, Gray reviews familiar personal finance topics and explains how they relate to their nonprofit organizational counterparts. Including real world examples from his own experience and that of his wife, former NYC Ballet Principal dancer Kyra Nichols, Gray provides insights that can change the way you understand and approach your organization’s finances…and perhaps your own. The session will be an informative and entertaining look at how money flows in nonprofit organizations, and how that money can be managed to improve sustainability. “A learning experience not to be missed!”…Marete Wester, MS, Director of Arts Policy Information, Americans for the Arts
