In celebration of Youth Art Month (March) and in partnership with the Arts Council of the Morris Area’s Arts Everywhere! initiative, the Community Children’s Museum invites all children in K-6th grade to bring their favorite work of art to the Museum (located at 77 E. Blackwell St., Dover, NJ) between March 3-5th from 10am -5pm. The artwork will then become part of the first BYOA (Bring Your Own Art) Exhibit at the museum’s Children’s Art Gallery and remain on display during March, ending with an artist reception for families and the general public on March 27th from noon to 2pm. The BYOA Show celebrates children’s talents and creativity in a spontaneous and rewarding way out of the context of school.
Kadie Dempsey, Director of Arts in Community for the Arts Council says, “It is so important to provide an outlet for children to express themselves and inspire others. It makes them feel like an important part of the community.”
“I can’t wait to see what surprises the children have in store for us,” says Jody Marcus, Director of the Community Children’s Museum. “We have never done this before. The majority of our art gallery shows are teacher directed and hung. This will be different and it’s very exciting.” Details about the show’s criteria can be seen at www.communitychildrensmuseum.org or you can call the museum at (973) 366-9060.
