Bascove, Celebrated Artist & Culture Writer
A nerdy tomboy covered in paint, glue and ink, reading, drawing or hanging out with the guys who collected turtles & frogs, Bascove was the only girl in her town’s Civil Defense Team and built her own shortwave radio. An obsessive reader & political junkie, she spent decades creating political art for the NY Times,
MS. Magazine
and book covers for some of the world’s most esteemed authors. In Paris, she started drawing bridges, an obsession that continues to this day. A Philadelphia College of Art graduate, Bascove exhibited, lectured and arranged events at various NYC Historical Societies, the Museum of the City of New York, the Arsenal in Central Park, and the Central Park Conservancy, among others. Her paintings, accompanied by anthologies of related writings, are published in three collections: Sustenance & Desire, Where Books Fall Open and Stone and Steel.  Her political and literary work is in the permanent collection of The Norman Rockwell Museum and, as a culture writer, she contributes to Arte Fuse, Stay Thirsty and New York Arts Magazine. Chosen by the US State Department’s Art in Embassies Cultural Exchange, her work is exhibited at American embassies in Sofia, Bulgaria (2016-2019) and in Muscat, Oman (2016-2018), and found in major museums and collections throughout America and France.

Michael Avramides, Visionary NYC Architect
After serving in Vietnam, Michael became an architect and has worked extensively for over three decades to design and build affordable housing throughout New York City, primarily in the Bronx and Harlem. He was awarded “Best Senior Housing,” by the National Association of Homebuilders, among other accolades, and his career has been highlighted by the NY Times and channel NY1. Currently he works with other Veterans/Architects in Hopewell, New Jersey, upgrading VA Hospitals throughout New York and New Jersey, including ICU, Surgery, MRIs, and Mental Health units, etc., employing the latest available technology to provide the best care for our best citizens. He has always maintained that the most deserving clients offer the greatest professional rewards. When not dodging debris falling on his hard hat in one of his buildings, (usually from an ungrateful contractor), Michael accompanies his wife, the artist Bascove, on her bridge expeditions throughout New York and New Jersey, generally requiring access to remote locations. Forging ahead, with her close by, confident that the “No Trespassing” signs are probably out of date, he finds vantage points, often with complete abandon for his own physical safety (or common sense). Surprisingly, they remain married.
