Dr. Leichenko is an avid cyclist and a world expert on climate adaptation….as well as an award winning author on topics of resiliency and sustainability.   In today’s climate, who wouldn’t want to talk with her!?

Robin Leichenko, Ph.D. – Professor & Chair, Geography Department, Rutgers University; Co-Director, Rutgers Climate Institute
Robin’s recent research explores vulnerability and resilience to climate change within coastal and inland communities in New Jersey and New York. She has authored or co-authored three books and more than 70 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. Her 2008 book, Environmental Change and Globalization: Double Exposures (Oxford University Press), won the Meridian Book Award from the American Association of Geographers. Her latest book, Climate and Society: Transforming the Future (2019, Polity Press), shows that climate change is both a critical challenge for society but also an opening for transformation to a more sustainable and thriving world. Robin’s favorite hobby is cycling, a passion that she shares with her husband Bill. She would be very happy to spend the entire evening talking about bikes and good places to ride. She also enjoys spending time with her two sons (who typically only want to spend small amounts of time with their mother), her two dogs (who are always delighted to be with her) and her cat (who also loves being with her but sometimes bites).
