You Can Help Change Lives

“It’s during those dark moments where your Girls Surviving family comes to mind and saves the day. I can only imagine how many lives it has changed and saved.”

These are the words of Jessica Torres, Girls Surviving alumna, reflecting on the Morris Arts’ program that taught her the skills to cope with her anxiety and depression, share and vocalize issues affecting her, empathize with and help others, and build her self-esteem.

Girls Surviving, now called Her Words, is an arts and literacy based mentoring and delinquency-prevention program. It serves economically disadvantaged teen girls and gender non-conforming youth by supporting their academic, social, and emotional growth.

“I personally would not be the successful person I am today if it weren’t for Girls Surviving.”

Pursuing a career in filmmaking, Jessica now lives in California and attends graduate school. She credits Her Words for strengthening her communication and literary skills and helping advance her career.  Her Words changed the course of Jessica’s life and the direction of her future.

Won’t you support this life-changing program that provides underserved youth the coping skills and the support they need to become resilient, thriving adults? With 45 two-hour workshops a year, a donation of $100 will cover teaching artist fees for one hour of a workshop. Even better – a $200 gift will cover the fees for the entire two-hour workshop.  DONATE HERE

With lost opportunities, isolation, and many mental health challenges facing our youth today it’s more important than ever to continue supporting mentoring programs such as Her Words.

Your donation, especially vital this year, can help sustain this game-changing program and our important work of

“building community through the arts.”

Thank you for your support, generosity, and patronage of the arts!

Sincerely yours,
