Thomas Zaubler, M.D.,  Morristown Medical Center – Chair & Medical Director, Department of Psychiatry  
Dr. Zaubler has served as the Chairman and Medical Director of the Department of Psychiatry at Morristown Medical Center since 2000.  He is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Sydney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University.  A graduate of Columbia College and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Zaubler completed his psychiatry residency training at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center Payne Whitney Clinic and a two-year fellowship focusing on psychiatric illness in the medical setting at the University of Washington where he also received a Master of Public Health in Health Services and Bioethics.  Dr. Zaubler’s research, publications and presentations have focused on integrating psychiatric care into primary care, delirium, population health models of care to treat psychiatric illnesses such as depression and anxiety, treatment of substance use disorders and delirium. 





George Philander, PhD – Renowned Climate Scientist, El Niño expert, Princeton University Professor Emeritus of Geosciences
South African-born Princeton Professor Emeritus Philander earned his Bachelor’s in applied math and physics (University of Cape Town), his Ph.D. in applied math (Harvard) and a postdoc in meteorology (MIT). His distinguished Princeton career included faculty and research positions in the Geosciences Dept., the Dept. of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences and NOAA’s Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory.  Renowned in the climate science community for his expertise in tropical oceanography, coupled atmosphere-ocean interactions and the El Nino phenomenon, Dr. Philander’s work spanned both observational and theoretical perspectives and explored climate change throughout Earth’s more distant past (paleoclimatology). He has authored three books, over 100 published journal articles, received myriad international awards and distinctions from universities and scholarly societies, and won the Vetlesen Prize (equivalent to a Nobel Prize, in Earth Sciences). Dr. Philander also maintains lifelong interest in the arts, particularly music, and cares deeply about science education and issues at the intersection of science and society. Within the last 15 years, he has been involved in a project run jointly in South Africa and Ghana to use the challenge of climate change as an entry point for discussion on STEM fields and appreciation of the natural world.



Daniel Varga, M.D., Hackensack Meridian Health – Chief Physician Executive
Responsible for achieving the best possible quality outcomes throughout the physician network, Dr. Varga has led HMH’s clinical response to Covid, PPE and vaccine planning. Previously the Senior Executive VP and Chief Clinical Officer for Texas Health Resources (THR), Dr. Varga served as Senior Executive Officer of Southwestern Health Resources  Clinically  Integrated  Network,  an  affiliation  between  THR  and  University  of  Texas Southwestern Medical Center whose 4,000-physician network manages over 600,000 lives through its ACO and approximately $2 billion in risk contract premium. Previously, Dr. Varga was SVP and Chief Clinical Officer of KentuckyOne Health in Louisville, KY; Chief Medical Officer of Saint Joseph Health System; Chief Medical Officer of SSM Healthcare-Saint Louis; and Chief Medical Officer of Norton Healthcare. A regular writer and frequent regional/national speaker on health policies, clinical performance improvement, and public reporting/transparency in health care, Dr. Varga is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Kentucky, an Alpha Omega Alpha graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine and served as Chief Medical Resident at the University of Louisville Affiliated Hospitals. A board certified General Internist, he is past President of both the Greater Louisville Medical Society and the Kentucky Medical Association. Outside of work, he and his wife enjoy time with their adult children and grandson and traveling to their favorite destinations: Charleston, New Orleans and Italy
