DIRECTOR OF MARKETING/COMMUNICATIONS AND ENGAGEMENT

Our varied programs and services serve to inspire, connect and engage. They include arts education programs for children in grades K-12, the creation of innovative community-building arts events including concerts, gallery walks, and public art exhibits, and support of area artists and arts organizations through funding, advocacy, and professional development.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Director of Marketing/Communications and Engagement

Hours: 40 hours/week; eligible for benefits

The Director of Marketing/Communications and Engagement is responsible for planning, development and implementation of all of the Morris Arts’ marketing, communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal. The position coordinates strategically with the other functions of the Organization and ties all marketing and engagement activity back to organizational goals keeping the big picture in focus. This position is a one-person department that requires someone who can multi-task effectively and gracefully with a sense of humor and respect for teamwork.

PRIMARY RELATIONSHIPS

The position reports to the Executive Director and serves as a member of the senior management team.

This position actively participates with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other management and program staff in charting the direction of the Organization, assuring its accountability to all constituencies, and ensuring its effective operation.

Within the Organization, the position has primary working relationships with the Executive Director and senior management team.

Externally, the position coordinates primarily with the media, our partners, and vendors.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will enhance Morris Arts’ image and position within the marketplace and the general public and to engage and attract current and potential diverse audiences.

Responsible for editorial direction, designing, production and distribution of all publications. Develop, design, distribute, and maintain high-quality print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to brochures, ad journals, post-cards and posters, and newsletters.

Generate content strategy to bring brand awareness and increase engagement through storytelling with videos, testimonials, multimedia content.

Design and execute graphics and digital content using Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Pages, and Publisher (and other programs) for social media, email blasts, and website.

Work closely with program staff to design and implement communications strategies and effective messaging for organizational and program-specific goals.

Lead the strategy and generation of engaging digital content for Morris Arts’ website, social media, and email channels that lead to measurable action. Monitor and execute all social media posts including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc. Capture engaging photographs and video to develop digital content. Create content for and maintain the website.

Generate and coordinate media interest in Morris Arts and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests. Act as the Organization’s representative with the media.

Assist development staff with fundraising appeals and events.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the successful design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.

Experience developing and implementing successful social media marketing strategies.

Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal skills, flexible and a self-starter with experience managing multiple concurrent projects while also being highly detail-oriented with a commitment to quality.

Experience in graphic design and production of print materials and publications.

Excellent writing and editing skills.

Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, WordPress, and graphics programs such as Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Pages, and Publisher.

Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.


Salary is $55K. Position is exempt, eligible for medical benefits. Morris Arts offers a flexible schedule and work environment and generous paid time off (including the two weeks between the holidays at the end of December).
