Storytelling Through Indian Dance with Deepa Mahadevan
In this program students embark on an exciting journey with evocative storytelling through gestures, facial expressions, music, rhythm and poetry. Dressed in bright silk, gold jewelry, white jasmine and beautifully drawn-out eyes, the dancer will share stories of love and nature. In an interactive format, the students participate with gestures and movement by clapping their hands or stamping their feet to the music. Award-winning movement researcher, Dr. Deepa Mahadevan has been working with students from K-12 for over 20 years and will leave students with a deep appreciation for this East Asian dance form, Bharatanatyam.
