MAKING ART IN PUBLIC SPACES
A Life Center Stage Initiative in Collaboration with Morris Arts
About Making Art in Public Spaces
Making Art in Public Spaces (M.A.P.S.) is a collaborative project offering non-clinical, low barrier opportunities for our community to experience the health-related benefits of the arts. This initiative encompasses a variety of events throughout the year including creative socials, art exhibitions, workshops, and performances.
Thank you to our partners at Life Center Stage for making these programs and events possible and to Caring Partners of Morris & Sussex and The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey for generously funding this initiative.
Upcoming M.A.P.S. Events
Dare to Shine Dare to Lead Youth Open Mic Training
Date: Sundays | February 22 – April 26
Time: 4:00-6:30 PM
Location: Boonton Holmes Public Library, 621 Main St, Boonton, NJ 07005
During this twelve-week performance and production series for youth, students will receive performance training and learn the technical aspects of running an open mic event, utilizing the stage space for hands on experience. Led by award-winning teaching artists, the program provides hands-on training in performance techniques, self-confidence, and stage fright management while teaching students to produce an Open Mic event.
Through this process, participants develop leadership, and teamwork. By supporting peers in a live setting, students identify their unique strengths and foster community trust through cooperative social interaction.
Thank you to Caring Partners of Morris & Sussex for making this program possible.
